Abigail the Giant Crochet Spider

Abigail is now on display at John Fluevog Shoes Toronto Distillery

The giant spider named Abigail is a continuation of Masse’s large bug sculptures constructed of yarn. Masse connects with craft techniques passed down from her grandmother. The spider being a weaving bug represents the importance of strong women who practice craft. She pays an homage to love and family by working with a motif significant to childhood memories.

Materials: 100% Canadian Wool, Polyester, Galvanized Steel, Acrylic

Watch the youtube video on how she was constructed.

This project was funded by John Fluevog Shoes.
